Dancing with cats

This is the website all about dancing with your cat. I don’t know about your cat but the cat I co-habitate with is far from cooperative and would most likely scratch out my eyeballs than dance with me. If you can get a hold of the book “Dancing With Cats” do so.

dance, motherfucker, dance!

Lost in Space

After A Tribe Called Quest broke up after 1998′s The Love Movement album, Q-Tip released his first solo album the jiggified Amplified shortly afterwards. While this get him a hit single with “Vivrant Thing”, it managed to alienate most ATCQ fans.

Unknown to most Q-Tip has completed a second album called “Kamaal The Abstract”. However this album will probably never see the light of day because it has been canned by his record company Arista. Having had the opportunity to listen to the album I can understand why. It simply is not a hip-hop album. It has more in common with Prince than Digable Planets. This is not to say it is not a good album. On its’ own it stands up fairly well. But because it is so left-field Arista simply did not know how to market it. Most ATCQ fans will be baffled, most Hip-Hop fans will be pissed because he doesn’t really rap much (if at all) on the album, and most Jazz-heads really don’t take a hip-hop MC trying his take at Jazz-rock seriously.

It did get released for review to several music stations but after mixed reviews Arista canned it. I think it’s an interesting album that I hope will get released at one point in the future. I just hope that Q-Tip does continue down this path for his next album and doesn’t get discouraged by all of this.

Can you kick it?

Blinded with science

Voltage Labs build strange devices to test even stranger theorem. Highlights include the pneumatic cannon and the HERF gun.

Assclowns ahoy

Some of the sites I visit on a somewhat regular basis have been taken out by a Distributed Denial Of Service attack by some stupid hackers. Internet Week has the scoop.

Thanks jerkasses!

It a trap!

The RIAA in a move to alienate and scare the rest of its’ customers have decided to brandish litany like a whiffle bat and sue any people caught file-sharing anything that falls within its’ jurisdiction. My Take: This is really a bad move and I think it will not stem the tide of file sharing until they can offer a competitive and convenient alternative. In fact, according to a Washington Post article file-sharing is on the rise. While some of this can be attributed to the looting mentality, I don’t think that the mindset can be changed only the means of distribution.

Apple Computer has taken the initiative by providing an easy (provided you have a credit card with a US billing address and an Macintosh running Mac OS 10.2) alternative to downloading music. At 99

Barry White dead at 58

Barry White has passed away at the age of 58. This man single-handedly is responsible for most of the world getting their freak on. It ‘s truly a shame that someone like him passes away and Aerosmith are still putting out albums. To the man whose voice launched thousands of “make-out” mixes, we will miss you. Here’s to you, Barry.

Barry is not a man to be fucked with.

Back In Brown

Just came back from my sister’s wedding. Shook hands, hugged and kisses complete strangers. I also gave a pretty lousy toast to my sister. It was fun though. Fun like touch football or the electric boogaloo. Here’s to Megan & Tony.

None of these people are me or my relatives
